Position Description

The Vice President of the Technology Hub will provide strategic and operational leadership for Ed Advancement’s Technology Hub, and all technology initiatives with partner colleges and universities. The VP will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of both internally developed and service-partner-driven technology solutions, ensuring mission alignment. This role combines visionary leadership with hands-on technical expertise to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and deliver transformative technology solutions. The VP will work in close collaboration with leaders in the Services and Solutions, Partner Engagement, and Partner Development teams to ensure cohesive and effective technology strategies.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a technology strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Drive innovation through pilot and proof of concept development and identify emerging trends to enhance service delivery and impact.
  • Collaborate with leadership to integrate technology into the organization’s strategic initiatives.

Technology Development & Management:

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of internally developed technology solutions, including data analytics and AI.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage vendor-partner solutions to ensure optimal performance and value.
  • Establish and maintain technology standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Ensure the scalability, security, and sustainability of all technology platforms.

Client-Focused Solutions:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of technology solutions tailored to the needs of under-resourced institutions.
  • Collaborate with engagement leaders in our Service Center to understand their unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Ensure technology solutions are user-centric, accessible, and aligned with equity and inclusion principles.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing technology team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support professional development opportunities for team members.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Effectively collaborate with Development to secure funding for technology initiatives through grants, partnerships, or other means.
  • Provide transparent reporting on technology investments and outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Represent the organization’s technology vision and capabilities to external partners, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Act as a thought leader and advocate for technology’s role in advancing social mobility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in managing technology solutions for mission-driven or higher education-focused organizations.
  • Experience with both software development and vendor-partner solutions.

Working Conditions or Other Requirements

Ed Advancement has offices in New York, NY, and Washington, DC. This full-time, exempt, position, regularly reports to one of our offices as determined by the Chief Operating Officer and in accordance with organizational policies. This position will involve access to confidential information and highly sensitive matters, which must be handled tactfully and carefully. Employees must securely manage all data and non-public information. Occasional weekend and evening hours, travel to partner institutions, and other travel may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

Hiring salary range: $180,000 – $220,000, based on qualifications and experience.
